| Elizabethtown, PA--Tim Chryssikos '05 scored a career-high five goals but it was not enough as Elizabethtown (1-4) rallied for a 9-8 non-conference victory over the visiting Garnet (1-2). Chryssikos picked up the first two goals of the game to give Swarthmore a 2-0 lead after the first quarter. Chryssikos scored unassisted just 44 seconds into the game and made it 2-0 on a goal at 5:03. Allen Churchman scored his first goal 40 seconds into the second period to cut the lead in half. Jeff Donlea '05 scored at 6:14 off a Ryan McKenna feed to make it 3-1 and Chryssikos picked up the hattrick with 2:24 remaining in the quarter. Tom Coughlin '05 gave the Garnet a 5-2 halftime advantage with an unassisted goal with 1:03 left. Chryssikos opened the scoring in the third with an unassisted goal at 10:17 to give the Garnet its largest lead of the game at 6-2. The Blue Jays then went on a 5-0 run to take a 7-6 lead with 8:34 remaining in the game. Churchman assisted on goals by Brian Ginter and Rob Towe and Frankie Puzzangara scored a man-up goal at 6:02 to make it 6-5 at the end of the third. Bryan Miller scored at 11:29 to tie the game and Churchman gave the Jays its first lead of the game with 8:34 remaining. Chryssikos picked up his fifth tally of the game just 37 seconds later to tie the contest. Towe countered for E-town at 7:00 on a Matt Newell assist and Donlea evened the game at 8-8 with 5:56 remaining. Justin Griffey scored the game-winner off a Ryan Smetana assist at 3:32. Elizabethtown held a 30-21 shot advantage for the game as Frank Mazzucco '08 recorded eight saves for the Garnet. The Garnet host Babson at 7 p.m. Saturday evening. |
