|LIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College snapped a two-game skid by defeating Moravian College 16-4 in a Middle Atlantic Conference home game Saturday. The Blue Jays, which improve to 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the MAC with the win, out-scored Moravian 5-1 in the first quarter, 9-2 by halftime and 12-3 by the end of the third quarter. Moravian dropped to 2-12 overall and 2-7 in the conference with the loss.|
Elizabethtown senior midfielder Frankie Puzzangara (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) scored four goals, tallied three assists, led the Blue Jays in ground balls with seven, and won eight out of 12 face-offs. Ryan McCafferty (Orlando, FL/William R. Boone) added four goals for Etown, and Aaron Weber (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) scored three times and had two assists. Josh Dougherty (Ocean City, MD/Worcester Prep.) scored three goals for the Blue Jays, and Brad Whitcomb (Taneytown, MD/Francis Scott Key) scored one goal and had two assists. Keith Staulters (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) scored one goal and had one assist for Etown, and Andrew Wagner (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) had two assists. Elizabethtown defender Eric Peifer (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) had six ground balls and one assist.
T.J. Hirsch (Putnum Valley, NY/Walter Panas) led Moravian in ground balls with eight and score done goal. Cruz Sierra (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) scored one goal and one assist for the Greyhounds and had seven ground balls, and Keith Danner (Laurys Station, PA/Parkland) had one goal and one assist as well. Jason Tosches (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) added one goal for Moravian.
Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Wednesday, April 25 at the University of Scranton in a 4:00 p.m. MAC game.
