Saint John Fisher vs. Hartwick

The Game Story:
The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team defeated visiting Hartwick College 7-4 on Saturday in a key Empire 8 Conference contest.

With the win, Fisher improves to 5-2 overall, marking the best start to a season in the program's six-year history. The Cardinals are also 2-1 in the Empire, while Hartwick is now 5-3, 2-1.

Fisher took a 3-1 lead, thanks to three straight man-up goals by freshman Scott Bowen, and never relinquished the advantage.

The Cardinals extended their lead to 6-2 going into the fourth quarter, before Hartwick trimmed the lead down to two goals midway through the final period, but couldn't get any closer.

Goalie Brian Cummings finished with 12 saves to earn the win.

Matt Kaiser and Jeff Price each finished with one goal and one assist for Fisher, while Dennis Bell and Chris Schmidt also scored.

Matt Hargather finished with two assists, while Michael-Paul Solamon, also assisted on a goal.

Sophomore Dave Wood won 10-of-15 face-offs, while scooping up four ground balls. Zack Zazzara led Fisher with five ground balls, while Will Empey added four ground balls.

Fisher will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Medaille Colleg
