| WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Senior attacker Lucas Hopkins (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) scored four goals and added three assists to lead Keuka (N.Y.) past Washington & Jefferson, 19-4, in men’s lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at Cameron Stadium. The Storm (3-0) rolled out to a 7-0 lead in the first 13 minutes behind three goals from freshman attacker Ryan Halbert (Keuka Park, N.Y./Penn Yan). W&J sophomore attacker Doug Lash (West Mifflin, Pa./Central Catholic) and junior attacker Kyle O’Meara (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) scored back-to-back goals to make it a 7-2 game just 32 seconds into the second period, but Keuka answered with six-straight scores to take a 13-2 lead at intermission. The Storm then outscored the Presidents, 5-0, in the third quarter to run away with the 15-goal victory. Halbert finished with a game-high five goals for the Storm, while freshman midfielder Steve LaRue (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) added two goals and five assists. Junior attacker Wes Hopkins (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) totaled four points with a goal and three helpers. Four Keuka goaltenders combined to make seven saves. Lash led Washington & Jefferson with two goals, while senior midfielder Scott Cook (Weirton, W.Va./Weir) netted one goal. Junior midfielder Justin Cameron (McMurray, Pa./Peters Twp.) also collected a game-high 11 ground balls. Junior goalkeeper Doug DiGiovanni (Washington, Pa./Trinity) played all 60 minutes and recorded 11 saves. Keuka held a 41-13 shot advantage and both teams picked up 27 ground balls. The Storm were also 4-for-6 on extra-man opportunities. Washington & Jefferson (0-4) returns to action on April 10th when it hosts Kenyon at 2:00 pm. |
