The Game Story:
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College menís lacrosse team couldnít hold onto an early six goal advantage and dropped a 14-13 double overtime decision against Medaille College on Saturday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium. The loss was the first home setback of the season for the Presidents.

The Presidents (7-5) fired in six first quarter goals and looked to be well on their way to the eighth victory of the season. Six different players recorded first quarter goals for W&J, including seniors Zach Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key), Mike Frank (Potomac, Md./Landon), Sean Jasionowski (Bear, Del./Pennington) {right}, Devin OíMalley (Wilmington, N.C./Williston-Northampton) and Dan Rosenberg (Chevy Chase, Md./BCC), while junior Jackson Doyle (Northville, Mich./Northville) finished off the first quarter scoring.

Medaille (6-7) began its climb back into the contest early in the second quarter, receiving goals from Jeff Zacharias at the 10:54 mark and Joe Glieco at the 9:14 mark to narrow the Presidents advantage to 6-2.

W&J responded and found the back of the net again with 5:13 left in the first half as Jasionowski netted his second goal of the half. However, Medaille got three goals in the final four minutes of action to take the contest into intermission with W&J leading 7-5.

The Mavericks continued to have the hot hand in the third quarter as they fired in three consecutive goals to grab their first lead of the contest, 8-7, with 7:20 remaining in the period. The Presidents responded with back-to-back goals from Frank and Rosenberg to reclaim their lead, but MC connected on two late quarter goals and led 10-9 entering the fourth period of play.

After Medaille scored the first goal of the fourth to go up by two, the Presidents rattled off three consecutive goals to get the momentum back on their side with just under seven minutes remaining in regulation.

Medaille got the score back to even at the 4:50 mark, but Jasionowski quickly grabbed the lead back with a goal of his own with 4:24 left to play.

With W&J leading 13-12 with just under 20 seconds remaining in the contest, the Mavericks called a time-out to set up a last second scoring chance to send the game into overtime. Dave Bennett, who is the Mavericks leading scorer, accepted the opportunity and found the back of the net with just 14 seconds showing on the clock to knot the score up at 13-13.

After playing a scoreless first overtime, Bennett struck again for the game winner just 1:20 into the second overtime.

Devilbiss, who is the nationís leading scorer, and Jasionowski led W&J with four points a piece. Devilbiss scored two goals and dished out two assists, while Jasionowski recorded three goals and one assist. Frank finished the contest with three points on three goals, while Rosenberg added two points on two goals. Bennett led all scorers with seven points on the afternoon (4g, 3a), while the trio of Glieco, Sean Murray and Zacharias also closed out the game with three points a piece. Glieco and Zacharias both recorded their points on goals, while Murray had one goal and two assists.

Freshman goalie Brian Cummins (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) made 15 saves in goal for the Presidents, while Ben Dlugosh stopped 10 shots.

Washington & Jefferson will wrap up its 2009 season next Saturday when hosting Adrian College at Alexandre Stadium for a 1:00 pm contest.
