| WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Senior attacker John Schlegel scored four of his eight goals in the first quarter as Ohio Wesleyan cruised to a 25-6 victory over Washington & Jefferson in men's lacrosse action on Saturday evening at Alexandre Stadium. The Battling Bishops (8-4) ran out to a 7-0 lead after one period and extended its advantage to 10-2 at halftime as Schlegel added two more scores in the second quarter. Ohio Wesleyan outscored W&J by a 15-4 margin in the second half. Jarred Law added four goals and three assists for OWU, while Chris Eccles and Tyler Treece both netted a pair of goals. A total of 13 different Battling Bishops scored. Paul McCommons played the first 35 minutes in goal and made one save. Ohio Wesleyan held a 56-15 shot advantage and collected 57 ground balls. Freshmen attackers Ed Farruggia (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) and Tim Huckestein (Allison Park, Pa./North Allegheny) posted two goals and one assist to lead Washington & Jefferson. Freshman attacker Mike Sharrio (Bradford, N.H./Bishop Brady) also scored two goals for W&J. Freshman goalie Spooky Reid (Franklin, Tenn./University School of Nashville) amassed 16 saves in the loss. Washington & Jefferson concludes its 2005 season with a 2-9 overall record. |
