| SUNY-BROCKPORT HOLDS OFF W&J, 11-7, IN MEN'S LACROSSE (3/11) WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Senior attacker Jordan Conrad (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) scored a game-high four goals as SUNY-Brockport opened its 2006 season with an 11-7 victory over Washington & Jefferson in men's lacrosse action on Saturday evening at Alexandre Stadium. The Golden Eagles, who defeated W&J last season by a 16-3 margin, opened a 2-0 lead in the first 1:12 behind goals from Conrad and freshman attacker Matt Prentice (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn). The Presidents (1-2) tied the game at the 10:48 mark after goals by sophomores Aaron Brennan (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) and Russ Kalkstein (Baltimore, Md./Loyola) in a span of 27 seconds. Senior attacker Michael Beach (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) notched a pair of scores in the next 15 minutes to help SUNY-Brockport build a 6-2 lead and Conrad's goal 15 seconds before halftime made it an 8-4 advantage after 30 minutes. Sophomore midfielder John Foran (Annandale, N.J./Rutgers Prep) and freshman midfielder Kevin Hall (Medfield, Mass./Williston-North Hampton) recorded goals in the first eight minutes of the third quarter to bring W&J to within 8-6, but the Golden Eagles ended the game with four consecutive goals to earn the win. Beach and Prentice both amassed two goals and one assist from SUNY-Brockport, while senior midfielder Brian Mucino (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) and junior midfielder Joe Aquilina (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) both added one goal and one assist. Sophomore goalie Tom Keenan (Brasher Falls, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) earned the win after making seven first-half saves. Kalkstein paced the W&J offense with two goals. Hall and freshman attacker Sean Jasionowski (Bear, Del./Pennington) both recorded one goal and one assist. Sophomore goalie Spooky Reid (Franklin, Tenn./University School of Nashville) stopped nine shots in the loss. W&J hosts Oberlin on Wednesday in its next contest at 5:00 pm.
