Washington And Jefferson vs. Suny Brockport

The Game Story:
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Brockport State raced out to a 10-1 lead after 15
minutes of play and never looked back in cruising past Washington &
Jefferson, 16-3, in the men's lacrosse season opener for both squads
on Sunday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium.

The Golden Eagles scored five goals in the first nine minutes.
Senior midfielder Bobby Magrin (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) notched a
pair of goals and assisted on another during the early run.

Freshman attacker Ed Farruggia (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) got W&J
on the board at the 5:57 mark off an assist from freshman midfielder
Russ Kalkstein (Baltimore, Md./Loyola).

Brockport State then responded with nine unanswered goals over the
next 30 minutes to take control of the game.

Washington & Jefferson received late goals from Farruggia and
freshman midfielder John Foran (Annandale, N.J./Rutgers Prep).

Magrin led the way for the Golden Eagles with two goals and four
assists, while junior attacker Scott Nash (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger)
netted three goals and posted one assist. Freshman attacker Anthony
Ventresca (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) added one goal and assisted on
three other scores. Senior goalie Logan Gaffney (Lancaster,
N.Y./Lancaster) made three saves in 30 minutes of action to earn the
win. Brockport State scored on four of five extra-man opportunities

Freshman goalie Spooky Reid (Franklin, Tenn./University School of
Nashville) totaled 10 saves for the Presidents.
