| WASHINGTON, Pa. -- SUNY-Brockport held Washington & Jefferson scoreless for the first 29 minutes of the second half and recorded a 10-5 victory over the Presidents in men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium. The Golden Eagles (2-0) grabbed a 1-0 lead 2:19 into the contest on a goal by junior attacker Anthony Ventresca (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger). W&J assumed a 2-1 lead at the 6:40 mark following back-to-back goals by junior midfielder Russ Kalkstein (Baltimore, Md./Loyola) and sophomore attacker Dan Rosenberg (Chevy Chase, Md./BCC). The Presidents extended the lead to 4-2 with 2:22 remaining in the first half following a goal by sophomore midfielder Sean Jasionowski (Bear, Del./Pennington); however, SUNY-Brockport freshman attacker Adam Drypolcher (Manilus, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manilus) registered a pair of goals in the final 1:15 to tie the game at halftime. Senior midfielder Aaron Rivers (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) gave the Golden Eagles a 5-4 lead nine minutes into the third quarter and then made it a 6-4 game just under five minutes later. Drypolcher added two more goals in the fourth quarter as SUNY-Brockport built a 10-4 advantage before W&J sophomore attacker Zach Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) ended the scoring drought with 47 seconds left in the contest. Drypolcher collected four goals and one assist to lead the Golden Eagles, while Rivers and freshman attacker Pat Reilly (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) added two goals each. Junior goalie Matt Staalensen (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) amassed 14 saves in the win. Sophomore midfielder Kyle Worthley (Marietta, Ga./Harrison) led the Presidents with one goal and one assist. Junior midfielder Tim Huckestein (Allison Park, Pa./North Allegheny) also assisted on Kalkstein's goal. Junior goalie Andrew Reid (Franklin, Tenn./University School of Nashville) dropped to 1-2 on the season after allowing six goals in 44 minutes of action. Reid posted six saves. Washington & Jefferson (1-3) returns to action on Saturday when taking on Guilford (N.C.) in Salem, Va. The neutral-field contest begins at 3:00 pm. |
