Cazenovia vs. Morrisville

The Game Story:
Cazenovia, NY - With first place in the NEAC standings on the line Morrisville would remain undefeated, edging Cazenovia by the narrow margin of 15-13 in men's lacrosse action at Cazenovia College Wednesday afternoon.

The Wildcats suffered their first NEAC loss of the season falling to 7-6 overall (6-1 NEAC). The Mustangs improve to 10-3 overall (7-0 NEAC).

Morrisville would jump out to a 2-0 lead before sophomore Jamil Modaffari (Penn Yan, NY) would score the first of his six goals on the day to put the Wildcats on the scoreboard. After another pair of Mustang goals and a score from Cory Tilton (Central Square, NY) the Wildcats found themsleves down 4-2 after the first period.

Despite the inspired play of Taylor Hastrich (Horseheads, NY), two goals in the second period, Morrisville would take an 8-4 lead into intermission.

Modaffari would tally three more goals in the third, but at the end of the period the Wildcats would still be down by four. In the fourth, the defense would clamp down behind the efforts of Zach Gerald (North Syracuse, NY), Alex Iannicello (Warners, NY), and Sean Ward (Truxton, NY) and an impressive 24 saves by goal keeper Pat Boyle (Syracuse, NY). The Offense responded by rattling off the last five goals of the game in a furious comeback effort, but the Wildcats would come up short, falling 15-13.

Two-time NEAC student-athlete of the week TJ Shaw (Tully, NY) would hand out four assists on the day while scoring one goal, while Tilton would finish with three goals and two helpers.

Cazenovia travels to Keuka Saturday to play their season finale with a start time of 2:00pm.
