Cazenovia vs. Cobleskill

The Game Story:
SYRACUSE, N.Y. Ė The Cazenovia College menís lacrosse team won their fourth game of the season Saturday afternoon with a 19-7 victory over the visiting SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers.

The Wildcats improved to 4-3 overall, while the Fighting Tigers dropped to 0-5. The game marked the inaugural contest of the newly formed North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) menís lacrosse league.

Freshman Dylan West (Smithtown, NY) went off for a game-high seven goals to lead the Wildcats, who set a season-high with 19 tallies. Junior Gareth Fabian (Randolph, VT) and sophomore Kyle Boland (Clifton Park, NY) each scored four and added three and two assists, respectively. Junior Pat Sauers (Saranac Lake, NY) netted three goals and freshman Jevon Pakkala (Newfield, NY) added one to round out the scoring.

The Wildcats ripped off 60 shots for the game, 34 of which resulted in either a goal or save. Cazenovia also dominated the face-off battle, winning 22-of-29. Senior Chris Lamb (Ottawa, Ont.) came out on top on 18-of-22 of those face-offs. Cazenovia started and finished the game hot. The Wildcats outscored the Fighting Tigers 10-3 in the first quarter and finished the game by outscoring Cobleskill 6-0 in the final 15 minutes.

Freshman Alex Ianicello (Camillus, NY) got the win for the Wildcats in goal. Ianicello allowed five goals and recorded five saves in 30 minutes of action.

The Wildcats are at local rival Morrisville State on Wednesday to face the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m.
