| Six-Goal Second Leads Medaille To 15-3 Win At Alvernia|
Crusaders Get A Goal Each From Schell, Kanauss, And Laser
Reading, PA (Mar. 10) – The Medaille men’s lacrosse team scored six goals in the second quarter to build a 9-1 halftime lead and cruised to a 15-3 win over Alvernia College in non-conference Wednesday afternoon at Schlager Memorial Field.
Medaille opened the scoring on Aaron Burch’s first of three goals just 18 seconds into the contest. Alvernia (0-3) leveled the score when Chris Kanauss (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) scored, assisted by goalie Hugh Algeo (Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby), who ended the day with 17 saves. Medaille scored the next nine goals including a 6-0 run through the second quarter, and held a 10-1 advantage before Chris Schell (Sewell, NJ/Sewell) scored for the Crusaders with 13:49 left in the third. Derek Sadowski scored to answer for the Mavericks (1-1) and Alvernia freshman Chris Laser (Sinking Spring, PA/Lake Orion-MI) scored off the ensuing face-off for an 11-3 score after three quarters. Medaille did all the scoring in the fourth quarter for the 15-3 final.
The Crusaders will host Keuka College on Saturday at 3:00 pm before Spring Break and return to action at Moravian College on March 24.
