The Game Story:
Junior Cory Malampy (Ridley, PA) and sophomore Steve Cull (Havertown, PA) scored three goals apiece for Widener, which rolled to a 17-0 blanking at Alvernia in Reading, PA.

Widener was on cruise control early, opening a 9-0 halftime lead. Cull netted all three of his markers in that stretch with freshman Johnny Casey (Glenside, PA) scoring twice.

Malampy found the back of the net twice in the third quarter as the Pride (3-5, 2-1 MAC) took a 13-0 lead.

Freshman Brian Rogers (Malvern, PA) scored twice with senior Justin Upp (Camden, DE) dishing four assists for the Pride, who finished with a 44-6 shots edge.

Upp, sophomores JJ Hoeffler (Cranford, NJ), Shawn DeHaven (Lyndell, PA) and Sean D’Alessandro (Thorofare, NJ) along with freshmen Mark Kane (Morton, PA), Jim Corey (Warrington, PA) and Brian Einstein (Mount Laurel, NJ) all scored once.

It is the Pride’s second shutout in school history and first since an 11-0 triumph over Ursinus on March 23, 1981.

Widener on Wednesday hosts Misericordia at 7:00 pm.
