Muhlenberg vs. Franklin And Marshall
April 7, 2007
The Game Story:
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall jumped on Muhlenberg early and never looked back, taking a 12-7 Centennial Conference men's lacrosse win at the Mules' (5-4, 1-4 CC) Scotty Wood Stadium. Peter Moon scored five times for the Diplomats (5-4, 2-2 CC), while three other players chipped in with a pair.

F&M opened the game with six goals before the Mules found an answer. Moon scored his first two of the game in that run. Mike Down's (Ellicott City, MD / Centennial) goal with 10 seconds in the first quarter made it 4-0. Down assisted Brendan Kearny (Alexandria, VA / Bishop Ireton) early in the second quarter before Moon notched his second. Muhlenberg's James Corley finally broke up the run midway through the second getting his squad on the board, but was answered by Moon who cashed in on the man-advantage late in the half.

Moon's extra-man goal was the first of three he scored, and of the five the team scored on extra man opportunities on Saturday afternoon. That unit has struggled all season, netting just seven man-up goals in 45 tries entering the game.

The Diplomats next goal was scored by Down, 1:14 into the second half. It stood as the game-winner.

F&M's Dan Coffman (Annapolis, MD / Severn School) registered 11 saves while allowing seven goals in 60 minutes of work. Andrew Bell turned aside eight at the other end.

Franklin & Marshall moves above .500 at 5-4 with the victory, and draws even in the Conference at 2-2. The Diplomats return to action next Saturday at home against Haverford.
