|ALLENTOWN, PA -- Tenth-ranked Washington College jumped out to an 8-4 halftime lead en route to a 11-5 win over host Muhlenberg College in Centennial Conference men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon in Allentown, PA. Senior midfielder Ryan Morrison (Manhasset, NY/Salisbury School, CT) and sophomore attackman Mike Sutter (Ellicott City, MD/Mount St. Joseph) each scored three goals in the victory for Washington.|
Senior attackman Sam Lane (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield) and sophomore attackman Chris Read (Baltimore, MD/Boys Latin) joined Morrison and Sutter as the other Washington multiple-goal scorers, each finishing with two goals in the game. Junior midfielder Andrew Ostrusky (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park/Bridgeton, ME) added a goal to round out the scoring for the Shoremen.
Freshman attackman Jimmy Kielek (Baltimore, MD/St. St. Joseph) added three assists, while senior midfielder Tim Kerr (Pasadena, MD/Mt. St. Joseph), junior attackman Kevin Nolan (Clark, NJ/A.L. Johnson) and junior midfielder Mike Hughes (Pasadena, MD/Mt. St. Joseph) each recorded one assist each. Kerr also scooped up a game-high six ground balls.
Senior goalie Kevin Thibadeau (Cheshire, CT/Avon Old Farms) played the first 57:28 of the game for the Shoremen, making 12 saves, while allowing only five goals.
Washington held a 41-28 advantage in shots in the game and a 31-20 edge in ground balls. The Shoremen also won 12 of the game's 17 face-offs. Freshman midfielder Thayer Damm (Huntington Valley, PA/LaSalle) was 7-for-8 on face-offs for Washington and scooped up four ground balls.
James Robinson scored two goals to lead the Mules. Sean Toohill, Steven Toto and Galen Marsh each scored one goal, while Mickey Norton and Cliff Burwell each had an assist.
The Shoremen improved to 10-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play with the win, while the Fords fell to 5-6 and 2-4.
The Shoremen finish off Centennial Conference regular season play Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. game at Swarthmore.
