|The Game Story:|
|Kings Point, NY – After losing Wednesday night to the nations #3 team, the Mariners responded with an impressive 21-0 shutout win over the Mount St. Vincent Dolphins on Saturday afternoon.|
On a sunny warm day in Kings Point, the weather was ideal for a lacrosse game. Originally being played on the campus of Mount Saint Vincent, Saturday’s game was moved to Brooks Stadium because of field conditions.
The game jumped to a quick start as the Mariners scored three goals in the first five minutes of the game. Senior middy Tony Buleza kicked off the game with a Brennan Dougherty assisted goal in the games first two minutes. Jim Flannery then followed with a pair of his own goals.
By the end of the first quarter the game seemed out of reach as the Mariners held a massive 7-0 lead. The lead wasn’t taken for granted as Flannery opened the quarter with another pair of goals to drive the dagger into the hearts of the Dolphins.
The Mariners never looked back. Senior Sean Dougherty led the team with six goals and one assist while younger brother Brennan Dougherty led the team with six assists and one goal.
Freshman Keegan Boyle and junior Ian Callery each finished the game netting three goals.
With the win, the Mariners improve to 5-2 on the season and the Dolphins drop to 1-6.
The next game is scheduled for March 31st against visiting Kean University.
