|The Game Story:|
|NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Freshman Jake Robison (Franklin Square, N.Y.) led the way with seven points as the Mount Saint Mary College men's lacrosse team notched the program's first ever Skyline Conference victory with a 14-13 win over the College of Mount Saint Vincent. With the win, the Knights improve to 7-6 on the year and 1-2 in Skyline play. The Dolphins fall below the .500 mark to 7-8 overall and 0-4 in the Skyline.|
With less than three minutes elapsed, Mount junior Andrew Pullen (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored an unassisted goal to put the Knights on top, 1-0. The teams went on to exchange the next six goals to close out the first period, but Pullen's second of the day off a pass from Robison gave the Knights a slight, 4-3, advantage at the conclusion of the first quarter.
Robison and freshman CJ Cardo (Merrick, N.Y.) added back-to-back goals in less than a minute to open up the second quarter and give the Knights a three goal cushion. Mount Saint Vincent sophomore Bruce Pappas (Montrose, N.Y.) responded with his third of the night, but goals by Robison and junior Nick Findlay (Elmont, N.Y.) followed as the Mount possessed a four goal lead with three minutes to go in the second. The Dolphins added two quick goals before the half to pull to within three, 9-6.
Mount Saint Vincent junior Matt Desimone (Congers, N.Y.) opened up the scoring in the second half, as the Dolphins closed in on the Mount's lead. Consecutive goals by Robison and sophomore Matt O'Donnell (Wallkill, N.Y.) pushed the Knights back up by four with more than eight minutes to play in the quarter. Robison's fifth of the night closed out the third, but the Dolphins netted two more goals during the quarter to make it a three goal game, 12-9.
Trailing by just three, the Dolphins scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to pull to within one, 12-11. At the 10:32 mark, Pullen finished off a feed from Robison to make it a two possession game. Two minutes later, O'Donnell added his third of the night, which proved to be the game-winner. With his team down by two, Pappas scored his fifth at the 2:47 mark to bring the Dolphins to within one, however the Knights held them off the board for the closing minutes to seal the 14-13 win.
Robison lived up to his billing as the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, finished with five goals and two assists. Both Pullen and O'Donnell added hat tricks, while Findlay chipped in with four points (1G, 3A). In net, sophomore Shawn Cobstill (Oneonta, N.Y.) turned away 13 shots to earn the win.
Pappas led the Dolphins with five goals and one assist. Senior Dan Cohen (Ardsley, N.Y.) finished with three goals and one assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Kalibat (Oceanside, N.Y.) recorded 10 saves.
Looking to build off this win, the Knights will travel to Maritime College for a Skyline Conference contest on Saturday, April 14. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
