The Game Story:
Moravian dropped its inaugural Landmark Conference match, falling to Drew Unviersity, 24-8, in a match at Rocco Calvo Field. The Greyhounds scored first on a goal by junior attack Jason Tosches; however, the Rangers scored the next six goals and 15 opf the next 17 goals to head to the intermission with a 15-3 lead. Drew would extend its lead to 21-3 early in the third quarter before the Greyhounds netted four straight goals to trail 21-7 after 45 minutes. The Rangers had a 49-27 advantage in shots, a 57-42 edge in ground balls and won 25 of 35 face-offs in the match. Senior attack Robert Budziszewski and sophomore attack/midfielder Mike Sayes each had five goals and an assist to lead Drew while sophomore attack Jon Buckham had three goals and four assists for the Rangers. Junior midfielder Jon Dowiak won17 fo 21 face-offs for Drew to go with three assists and four gruond balls while junior midfielder Sean McNulty had a team high nine ground balls to go with two goals for the Rangers. Sophomore goalie Brad Mendelson made nine saves and earned the victory in goal for Drew in 30 minutes of action while junior keeper Michael Celentano had three saves in the second half. Freshman midfielder Robert Devine led Moravian with four goals and two assists while Tosches netted two goals. Junior attack Keith Danner and freshman attack Christopher Mohapp each had a goal and an assist for the Greyhounds. Senior defender David Poppe led Moravian with seven ground balls while freshman goalie Benjamin Leavy had 13 saves and a pair of ground balls while dropping to 4-3 on the season. Moravian junior defender Steven Carroll added five ground balls to reach 100 for his career.
