| 03.26 / Fontbonne Narrowly Escapes TSU with a Victory The Tri-State University men’s lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaker to Fontbonne University 7-6 at TSU. The Thunder held a 3-2 lead at the break and the game was tied at five heading into the final period. TSU took a 6-5 lead with 2:08 remaining in the game off a goal by Dylan Webber (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) that was assisted by Tom Hopkins (Chicago, Ill./.St. Rita). Fontbonne would not be denied as they scored back-to-back goals in less than 10 seconds to take the game at 7-6. TSU could not The game was close throughout as TSU held a 36-34 advantage in ground balls and Fontbonne held an 8-6 advantage in face-offs. Kyle Mates (Noblesville, Ind./Cathedral) led the Thunder with two goals and one assist. JJ Griesinger (Apple Valley, Minn./Holy Angels) chipped in with two goals. Dan Giorgis (Avon, Ohio/Avon) contributed with two assists. Cory Childs (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) added a goal and Tom Hopkins (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) had an assist. TSU drops their season record to 0-6 and Fontbonne improves to 3-6 on the season. The Thunder will return to action on Friday when they travel to Seton Hill University. |
