|LYNDON CENTER, Vt. - Castleton State jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and coasted to an eventual 17-3 victory over Lyndon State College in a North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse contest held Wednesday at the LSC Athletics Field.|
Korey Counus found the net four times to lead the Spartans, who upped their record to 9-4 overall and a perfect 9-0 in the NAC. Micheal DelDotto, Ryan Bartlett and Micheal Martinez added two goals each for Castleton, while Jake Rick, Jeremy Peyton, Kevin McCarthy and Phil Barry had one each. Craig MacDerment, James Bascom and Daniel Luzzi also had one goal each in the contest for CSC.
Micheal Mamunes and David DeGhetto split the goaltending duties for the winners and combined to make nine saves in the contest.
Chris Mansour (Mansfield, Mass.) had two goals to lead the Hornets, who fell to 3-9 on the season overall and 2-7 in the NAC. Patrick McCarthy (Hardwick, Vt.) had one goal in the loss and LSC goalie Matt Adams (Duxbury, Mass.) had 10 saves. Lyndon State was out shot in the contest by a margin of 41-23.
