| Mar 20, 2010 Men's Lacrosse: Eagles Fall At St. Joseph's In Opener, 14-4 Portland, Maine – The Daniel Webster College men’s lacrosse team held a 3-2 lead at the half, but host St. Joseph’s notched 12 straight second half strikes on the way to a 14-4 victory in the Eagles season opener Saturday afternoon. Shane Devaney (Merrimack, N.H.) notched two goals for the Eagles (0-1), while Justin Chiulli (Saugus, Mass.) added a goal and assist and Alex McKenzie (Nashua, N.H.) added a solo score. Tommy Driscoll (South Boston, Mass.) enjoyed a solid start, finishing with 14 saves. The Eagles, who were outshot 28-10 held a 1-0 lead after one period when Devaney sent home a Chiulli pass just 15 seconds into the game and took a 2-0 lead on McKenzie’s strike second off a Parker Condit (Blairstown, N.J.) pass 3:40 into the second. After the Monks cut the lead to one, Devaney upped it to 3-1 before a late Monks strike made it 3-2 at the break. SJC would score six straight in the third and six more in the fourth for the commanding lead finishing with a 52-16 total shots advantage. The Eagles look to bounce back when they play their home opener on Wednesday, hosting Norwich University at 4:00 p.m. |
