The Game Story:
LYNCHBURG, Va.--Senior Sofiane Lazar of the Hood College men's lacrosse team (5-3) made history Wednesday when he scored the Blazers' first goal of the day against Randolph College (0-6), and the 45th of his remarkable four-year career, making him the program's all-time leader in that category.

Lazar eclipsed former teammate Jason Anderson '08, who amassed 44 goals from 2005-08.

The Blazers, who played their first road game since Feb. 24, defeated the Wildcats 9-3. The triumph was the team's fifth in its last six games. Hood also set a program record for goals in a season with 91, surpassing the previous record of 88 from the 2009 season.

The Blazers clung to a slim 4-2 lead at halftime following scores by Lazar, Scott Thompson, Jeff Balinsky and Trey Freeman. The Wildcats closed the gap to one on an unassisted score by TJ Story with 10:22 left in the third quarter, but Dominique Shorter fed Thompson for the Blazers' fifth score nearly three minutes later.

Hood owned the fourth quarter, scoring the final four goals of the day. Lazar and Freeman notched their second tallies of the day while Troy Hubbard and Mike Gallion also found the back of the net in the period.

Freshman Will Lane improved to 4-1 in the cage by making 13 saves on 31 Wildcat shot attempts.
