|Lynchburg, VA -- The Randolph College Men's Lacrosse team concluded their first season of play with a 18-0 loss against Christopher Newport University Saturday afternoon at the new track and field complex.|
With the loss Randolph finishes the season with an 0-8 record. The Captains improve to 8-5 on the year.
Randolph played their best quarter all year in the first quarter, limiting the Captains to three goals. The WildCats had several scoring chances as R.W. Norris, Kody Roza and Ian McHorney each had shots on goal. Rashan Colbert and Stephen George led the WildCats with six ground balls each.
Christopher Newport would respond in the second and third quarters scoring six goals in each stanza. Mike Laycock led the Captains' attack with eight points on three goals and five assists. Zach Hill followed with five points on three goals and two assists. Ryan Merrell, Justin King and John Glaser each added four points in the win.
Randolph goalie Kevin McCracken finished with 15 saves seeing 33 shots on goal.
Randolph will join the prestigious Old Dominion Athletic Conference in 2009-2010.
