|Lynchburg, VA -- Birmingham Southern raced out to a 7-0 halftime lead and added eight goals in the last two quarters to secure a 15-1 win against host Randolph College in men's lacrosse action Monday night.|
With the loss Randolph drops to 0-5 overall on the season. Birmingham Southern improves to 3-5 on the year.
The loss overshadowed the WildCats Ian McHorney, who netted his second goal of the season off an assist from Aaron Shacklette late in the fourth quarter. McHorney broke free from the Panters defense and found the back of the net uncontest. Rashan Colbert led Randolph with eight ground balls.
The Panthers were led by Christopher Buechele with seven goals and two assists. D.J. Ward added four goals and seven assists. Jacob McPherson found the back of the net twice for Birmingham Southern.
WildCats goalie Kevin McCracken made 18 saves in the loss. Panthers goalkeeper Cameron Overton finished with three saves, picking up the win.
The Panthers outshot Randolph 74-9, while holding a 80-32 advantage in ground balls. Both teams had nine faceoff wins, as R.W. Norris accounted for all nine of the WildCats draws.
Randolph will be idle until Saturday when the WildCats travel to Lynchburg College for a match scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
