The Game Story:
ABINGOTN, Pa. — Led by lone senior Andrew Shaver (Liverpool, N.Y./West Genesee), the tomcat men's lacrosse team saw their best offensive output since the team opened play in 2011. The Tomcats posted a program-best 21 goals in a 21-5 win over Penn State Abington on Saturday March 24.

Shaver became the first Tomcat in the history of the program to notch double-digit points in a single game as he posted 10 in the contest (5 goals/5 assists).

Francis Ahia (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) notched the first goal of the game for the Tomcats just 19 seconds into play before Abington's Ryan Dasch tied the game at one with 9:13 remaining in the first. Shaver then notched his first goal of the contest with 1:31 remaining in the frame to put the Tomcats up 2-1.

The second quarter was all Tomcats as the team scored 13 goals in the second quarter. Zack Macurak scored all four of his goals in the frame and was joined by a hat trick from Sam Raymond (Davis Park N.Y./Bellport Senior); two goals apiece by Shaver, Brent Nicholson (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne), and Kadeem Evans (Cleveland, Ohio/Shaker Heights), and a score by Kendell Harrell (Jacksonville, Fla./Robert E. Lee) to send the game into halftime with the Tomcats up 16-1.

In the second half, Jacob Paviol (Falls Village, Conn./Housatonic Valley Regional) added his second goal of the year, and Dom Perella (Venetia, Pa./Senton-La Salle) scored twice for his first two goals of the season. Ahia notched his second goal of the game, and Shaver scored two more to round out the scoring and give Thiel the 21-5 victory.

The Tomcats passed the ball very well as they notched 14 assists on 21 goals. Shaver led the way with five assists, while Macurak, who had his best game in a Tomcat uniform added two assists to finish the day with six points (4 goals/2 assists). Seven other Tomcats each added an assist of their own on the day.
