| GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Susquehanna handed Gwynedd-Mercy its first loss of the season as the Griffins fell in a tight 6-5 loss to the Crusaders on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Craig Trueblood (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) led Gwynedd (4-1) with two goals. Jonathan Schmitt (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington), Jon-Eric Lane (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), and Dustan Mangin (Perkasie, Pa./Archbishop Wood) also tallied for GM. SU (4-1) took advantage of the man-up, scoring three times on four chances, with the last on a goal coming with 8:58 which proved to be the game-winner. Luke Devlan, Tim Pastore, and Billy Spack each recorded two goals and an assist each. Gwynedd netted three-straight goals after falling behind 1-0 in the first quarter. Susquehanna answered with three of their own in the second to claim a 4-3 lead at the half. Goalie Rich Zagari (Hillsborough, N.J./Immaculata) notched seven saves. Crusader keeper Jordan Daney made five. The Griffins will get back at on Wednesday with a game against Moravian in a 7 p.m. start. |
