Lebanon Valley vs. La Roche

The Game Story:

ANNVILLE, Pa. - A complete all-around game by Lebanon Valley helped them improve to 5-1 with a comprehensive 14-8 win over La Roche on Saturday.

The Dutchmen extended their best-ever start with a big first half to carry a 7-2 lead at the break on the Redhawks (2-6), playing in front of a big home crowd on a sunny afternoon at Arnold Field.

Scott Sutton had a dominating face-off game to key the offense, winning 21-of-26 while scooping a school-record 14 ground balls. Defensively, Mike Moll had a terrific day with a career-high 17 saves to pick up the win.

Malik Pedroso, Jordan Mayr, Sean Foley, and Ian Schmid each scored twice for LVC, and six other Dutchmen also found the back of the cage. Mike Kenski led La Roche with five goals. LVC led 43-35 on shots, including 23-12 in the first half.

Lebanon Valley darted out to a 5-0 lead, with the opener by Matt Roupe and a pair by Mayr providing all of the first-quarter scoring. Schmid and Alex Beard opened up the second quarter before Kenski put two on the board around a CJ Adams strike. Sean Foley ended the half with an opportunistic goal on the run from Ryan Leonard.

The second half started with a goal just 10 seconds in as Ryan Lanigan took the ground ball from the face-off and scored, and Pedroso added a man-up goal 44 seconds later, his first of two in the quarter. Foley tacked on his second late in the third.

La Roche scored four in the fourth, but the game was already in the books as Scott Travers, Leonard, and Schmid sealed it with goals.

Moll improved to 5-1 with his 17 saves, allowing seven; Kevin Krasley had a save in 4:40 of relief. Eugene LaBorde made 12 saves for La Roche to pick up the loss.
