The Game Story:
GEORGETOWN, Texas - The hill next to the lacrosse field at Southwestern University was abuzz as the Pirates hosted Trine for their first ever home contest. The historic game was entertaining for all but SU was unable to secure their first victory as they fell 19-6.

Director of Intercollgiate Athletics Dr. Glada Munt and SU lacrosse club head coach Monty Curtis started the day off with a coin toss to commemorate the historic event.

It didn't take long for Trine to open things up as they scored their first goal just seconds into the game. Trine scored again and then Edward Williams found the back of the net on a pass from Jamie Long to bring the Pirates within one. SU tied it up when Jamie Long scored unassisted with under a minute to go. The Thunder snuck two more into Southwestern's goal and SU found themselves down by two, 4-2, at the end of the first period.

The Thunder put on the pressure in the second quarter, scoring six times and holding the Pirates scoreless to head into the break with a 10-2 lead.

At the outset of the third quarter Trine tacked on two more goals before Thomas Mock sliced through the Thunder defense to score SU's third and fourth goal of the game, pulling the Pirates within 10 goals 14-4.

Trine tacked on five more goals in the final period and Southwestern posted two of their own to close out the contest 19-6.

Southwestern was out shot 48-22 in the game and were -25 in ground balls (70-55).

Long led the way for Southwestern with three goals. Chris O'Quain recorded 10 saves during the game. Offensively, Cory Childs had nine goals to lead Trine.
