Centre vs. Rhodes

The Game Story:
The Centre men's lacrosse team was in dominant form in a 15-4 win over Rhodes in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game Friday night at Farris Stadium.

Sophomore attacker Connor Stubbs (Decatur, Ga.) scored four goals with two assists while Zack Connors (Louisville, Ky.) added three goals with four assists and Peter Murphy (Louisville, Ky.) contributed three goals and two assists for the Colonels.

The outcome was never in doubt as Centre scored the first eight goals and didn't allow a Rhodes goal until just inside three minutes before halftime. After losing the shutout, the Colonels went on to score the next seven goals, pulling ahead 15-1 before Rhodes finally found the net again with just 6:18 remaining in the game. The Lynx scored twice more as the clock ran down to arrive at the 15-4 final.

Also scoring for Centre were Samuel Rush (Cornelius, N.C.) with two goals, and Robert Anthony (Louisville, Ky.), Justin Norris (Deep River, Conn.) and Harry Meisner (Cincinnati, Ohio) with one each. Bryce McCoy (Hudson, Ohio), Clayton Brown (Louisville, Ky.) and Chuck Treis (Cedar Grove, N.C.) split time in goal for Centre, making six, four and three saves respectively.

Centre outshot Rhodes 45-32, held a 45-25 edge in ground balls, and the Lynx made 30 turnovers to the Colonels' 19. Rhodes held a 12-10 advantage in face offs.

Centre improves to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in SCAC play while Rhodes drops to 1-6 with a 1-3 record in the conference. The Colonels next host Millsaps at 1 p.m. Sunday at Farris Stadium.
