Hanover vs. Mount St Joseph

The Game Story:
Freshman attacker Josh Green (Beaumaris, Australia) posted four goals and two assists as the Hanover College men’s lacrosse team fell to Midwest Lacrosse Conference foe College of Mount St. Joseph 19-7.

Mount St. Joe overcame a strong Hanover defensive effort in the first period, to claim an 8-2 halftime lead.

Mount St. Joe outshot Hanover 45-28 and posted more ground balls (36-28) with fewer turnovers (9-21). Freshman faceoff man Tim Gruber (Cincinnati, Ohio) posted a game-high 13 ground balls. Green posted his four goals with a team- high 13 shots. He increased his team-leading scoring total of 48 points to 31 goals and 17 assists.

In goal, freshman Addison Sears (Louisville, Ky.) contributed a 16 save performance in three quarters of play.

The Lions took a 3-1 first quarter lead with Green scoring the lone Panther goal on an assist from freshman attacker Nick Hermes (Grayslake, Ill.). Green scored Hanover’s only second quarter goal, notching an unassisted shot with one minute before intermission.

In the decisive third quarter, the Lions took control by outscoring the Panthers 7-2 including five straight to begin the quarter. Green again scored the only Panther goal of the quarter at the 3:17 mark.

The teams traded goals in the final stanza with Mount St. Joe prevailing 4-3.

Freshman Luke Karnick (Indianapolis, Ind) found the net late in the 13th minute while sophomore Zac Cheatle (Fox River Grove, Ill.) converted a Green assist with 11:55 remaining. Chris Baney (Lexington, Ky.) scored the final Panther goal on a Green assist with 9:43 to play.

Hanover’s record falls to 4-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play, while Mount St. Joe improves to 5-7, 3-3 MLC.
