|The Game Story:|
|Bill Blakely's goal with 5:19 left in the game was the difference maker as The Pride men's lacrosse team beat Ferrum, 5-4. Greensboro earned its second straight victory and third of its past four to move above the .500 mark at 3-2.|
After heading into the break knotted up at 3-3, The Pride's Alex Vanderhoff scored the lone goal of the third period by either team, on assist from Jaeger Carlyle. The Panthers evened the score just over three minutes into the final frame with a goal by Nick Smith.
However, the Greensboro defense buckled down for the remainder of the game, as Blakely's goal in the waning minutes proved to be the game winner.
Neither team found the board in the first quarter of action, waiting until the second period to light up the scoreboard. Both teams beat the opposing keeper three times for a halftime score of 3-3. Blakely scored the first two goals of the game for The Pride, sandwiched around a goal by Ferrum. Nicolas Lusardi answered the second Panther goal to close out the first half scoring for Greensboro.
Ferrum held a slight 29-28 advantage in shots while The Pride outshot the Panthers on goal 18-16. Greensboro forced Ferrum into 22 turnovers while committing 20 themselves. The Pride won 7-11 face-off attempts and made good on 13-22 clear attempts.
Greensboro will be back in action on Saturday at home against Marywood. Game time is set for 11 a.m. on Pride Field.
