Otterbein Rallies to Beat Ferrum 13-11 in Men's Lacrosse Poage-action-3-19-13-web Bookmark and Share 3/19/2013 6:03:00 PM Box Score FERRUM, Va. -- Andrew Donatelli scored eight goals to lift Otterbein University to a 13-11 non-conference men's lacrosse win over Ferrum College this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium. The Cardinals outscored Ferrum 7-3 down the stretch, including four goals by Donatelli. The Cardinals opened a 4-0 lead with four minutes remaining in the opening period. Donatelli scored three of those goals, and would go on to lead all scorers with eight goals. Ferrum settled down and eventually tied the game 6-6 at halftime. Daniel Batong and Tyler Poage each had two goals in that stretch, while Alex Rice and Ethan Wakefield netted one each. Batong and Will Walter scored early in the third period to put Ferrum on top 8-6, but Otterbein scored the next two goals to knot the score at 8-8 with 6:11 left in the third. Nick Smith put Ferrum out in front with a goal at 5:12, only to see the Cardinals score three straight and take an 11-9 lead with 14:19 left in the fourth period. Walter scored with 11:39 showing on the clock to trim the lead to one, but Donatelli found the back of the net twice more for a 13-11 lead with 6:38 left to play. Walter scored the game's final goal at the 3:03 mark. Walter and Batong closed with three goals each for Ferrum (6-5), while Poage had two goals. Damian Pulos made 16 saves in net for the Panthers. Mike O'Neal and Mike Dattolo had a pair of goals each in the win for Otterbein (3-2), and Adam Hatchard had 17 saves in net. Ferrum returns to action Saturday, March 23, at home against Saint Vincent College. The non-conference game gets underway at 1:00 at W.B. Adams Stadium. |
