Aurora vs. Mount St Joseph

The Game Story:
The Aurora University men's lacrosse team hosted their first Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament game in the short history of the program and defeated the #4 seeded Lions of the College of Mount St. Joseph 25-7. The win gives the Spartans the 14th of the season, a new record at AU.
Aurora jumped out to a lead 2:40 into the contest on an unassisted goal from sophomore Max Obriecht. Obriecht would score again with 10:25 to play in the first quarter as the Spartans took the momentum and opened up a 14-0 lead less than five minutes into the second quarter.

After the Lions finally got a shot past Spartan junior goalkeeper Adam Holka, AU went on to add two more goals to end the first half with a 16-1 lead.

The second half saw much of the same with AU scoring the first six goals for a 22-1 advantage. AU Head Coach Kylor Berkman played 37 players with 17 scoring a goal and 19 tallying a point. Both AU goalkeepers saw action with Holka getting the win (39:53 minutes played) and freshman Tyler Breitenbach finishing off
the final 20:07.

Scoring for the Spartans were Pat Diorka (six goals and one assist), Garret Rosiek (six assists and one goal), Zachary Olsen (two goals and one assist), Ryan Merritt (one goal and two assists), Obriecht and Andrew Schoessel (two goals), Cooper O'Brien (two assists), Spencer Fuqua, Danny Loyall and Jordan Williams (one goal and one assist), Jack Barry, Jared Pritchard, Zach henry, Alex Gebben, Justin Bose, Max Matthai, Hugo Casey and Ben McDougal (one goal) and Ryan Stow (one assist).

With the school record 14th win, AU is now 14-3 on the season. Next action for the Spartan men's lacrosse team is scheduled for Saturday, May 4 when they host the Championship of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament. AU will take on #2 Carthage College or #3 Augustana College with game time set for 1:00 p.m. on Vago Field.
