Aurora vs. Concordia
April 25, 2012
The Game Story:
The Spartans of Aurora University dominated from the opening face-off against the visiting Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin, eventually winning in decisive fashion 20-8. The win gave AU its 11th
win, tying the mark set in 2011 in the program's first season of play.

AU wasted no time in taking an early 6-0 lead with the first goal coming 1:20 into the contest from the stick of sophomore Garret Rosiek off a beautiful assist from fellow sophomore Jack Meachum.

While the AU offense was running on all cylinders, the Spartan defense led by sophomore goalkeeper Adam Holka and his defense mates of Jack Barry, Corey Loubert, Johnny Harkins, Kyle Kaminsky and Spencer Fuqua frustrated the visiting Falcons into turnovers and tough shot attempts.

After the first quarter of play, AU led 7-1 with the only Falcon goal coming on a man-up situation.

The Spartans continued to put pressure on the Falcons, scoring five more goals to lead 12-4 going into
halftime intermission. Meachum had three goals and an assist in the opening half, while freshman Max Obriecht had two goals and went 10-of-15 in face-offs and fellow freshman Ben McDougal added two goals.

Coming out of halftime, AU put no doubt who was going to win the contest. The Spartans scored six more goals while not allowing Concordia much offensively, shutting them out in the period. Freshman Jordan Williams got the scoring started with a blistering shot off a Meachum assist 11 seconds into the quarter while a man-up. Williams would add another goal, while freshman Danny Loyall had two goals along with one each from Rosiek and Obriecht.

The commanding 18-4 lead after three quarters allowed AU Head Coach Kylor Berkman to clear his bench and have all 29 dressed players see action in the game. Concordia would get four fourth quarter goals but the effort was a little tardy as the Spartans cruised to the 20-8 win.

On the day, Meachum led the way with four goals and two assists, Loyall had three goals and two assists, Obriecht had three goals and finished 13-of-23 in face-offs and Rosiek had two goals and three assists. Holka earned his 11th win of the season with 10 saves as AU improved to 11-3 overall and 7-1 in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference.

Next action for the Spartan men's lacrosse team comes on Sunday, April 29 when they host Albion College on Lax4Leukemia Day. Game time is set for 1 p.m. on Vago Field.
