| READING, Pa. - Albright scored five fourth-quarter goals - including the gamewinner with 31 seconds left - to pull out a wild 12-11 win over Lebanon Valley despite a seven-goal game by Malik Pedroso. The Dutchmen (9-3, 3-2 CC) were looking to clinch their first-ever playoff berth with a win, but the Lions (13-1, 3-0 CC) denied them thanks to six Dan Foote goals and Phil Potter's last-minute winner. Pedroso's career-high seven goals went with two assists, and CJ Adams, Ryan Lanigan, Alex Beard, and Ryan Leonard also scored for LVC> An even game all around, LVC led 35-34 on shots, face-offs were 13-13, and turnovers were 24-23 for Albright. Mike Moll had 10 saves in the loss, while Andrew Torak stopped eight for Albright. Special teams played a significant role as LVC had a pair of man-up and man-down goals, and Albright had one of each, including a key man-down goal in the fourth quarter to take an 11-10 lead. The game took a back-and-forth tone as LVC led 3-2 after the first quarter and Albright came back to lead 6-5 at the half. The Lions went up 7-5 before a 4-0 third-quarter run by the Dutchmen - including three straight Pedroso goals - gave them a 9-7 lead heading into the fourth. The Dutchmen led 9-7 heading into the fourth quarter, but a 3-0 Albright run to start the period gave the hosts a 10-9 lead. LVC tied it up at 10-10 with Pedroso's seventh goal before Holston's man-down tally, and Beard brought LVC level again with his strike with 2:29 left. Albright won the face-off but Foote's shot was saved, and out of a timeout, Potter scored to go up 12-11 with 31 seconds left. LVC never got another offensive chance. LVC can still clinch a playoff berth with a win over Widener on Saturday, or a Lycoming loss to Albright. |
