The Game Story:
Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men’s lacrosse team played their first game of the spring as a varsity program on Wednesday and were dealt a 13-2 loss by Oswego State University.

Sophomore Alex Tibbles (Evans Mills, N.Y.) scored both goals for the Roo in his first collegiate game and sophomore goalie Corey Spuck (Rochester, N.Y.) made 14 saves in his debut in net.

"Overall I was very pleased with our effort today against a very good lacrosse team," said first-year head coach Pat Harrington. "I thought our defense played extremely well and Corey Spuck had a great game in goal and made some big saves throughout the day."

Tibbles first goal came in the fourth quarter when he took the ball from the left wing off a re-start, bulled his way into the middle and fired a high shot past Lakers’ goalie Jason Ketchoyian. His second tally came four minutes later off a nice clear by the Roos. Junior Pat Connelly (Chittenango, N.Y.) sent a nice pass from the right wing to Tibbles coming down the left side, who then pumped in a quick shot past Ketchoyian for the final goal of the game.

Oswego held a 47-14 advantage in shots and scooped up 32 ground balls to SUNY Canton’s 15. Both teams came up empty with the man advantage as the Roos went 0-for-3 and the Lakers 0-for-4.

Cody Hoose led Oswego with three goals and four assists. Chris Porten added two goals and three assists. Ian O’Brien had two saves in 45 minutes and Ketchoyian did not make a save playing the final quarter.

SUNY Canton is next in action this weekend when they host Regis College on Saturday, March 10 at 1 p.m. and Wells College on Sunday, March 11 at 1 p.m.
