Mount Union vs. Oberlin

The Game Story:
ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's lacrosse team lost to Oberlin 15-5 Saturday, March 2nd at Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders (0-1) were led by freshman Josh Bender (Delaware/Delaware Hayes) as he had three points in the contest with three goals. Freshman Josh Stephens (North Canton/Green) had two points with two goals for the Raiders in the contest.

The Yeomen (2-0) were led by senior Connor Jackson with six total points consisting of four goals and two assists. Freshman Nick Lobley chipped in with four points, three goals and one assist as sophomore Sean Higgins finished with three points from three goals.

Oberlin never trialed as they grabbed the two point lead on a goal from Higgins and freshman Peter Paul before Mount Union's Stephens scored to cut the lead to 2-1 with 4:30 remaining in the opening quarter. The Yeomen would score two more from Higgins and Lobley taking the 4-1 lead into the end of the first quarter.

Oberlin would continue the pressure as they outscored the Raiders 4-2 in the second quarter before riding an 8-3 lead into halftime.

The Yeomen would put the game away with putting three more goals in as Mount Union would find the back of the net once in the third quarter. The Raiders would put in one final goal as Stephens scored before Oberlin would go on to the victory as they scored four goals making their win margin 10 points, 15-5.

Mount Union is back in action Wednesday, March 6th as they host Thiel College (Pa.) at 4:00 pm.
