|Fairfax, VA - The Washington Bayhawks (3-7) stepped on the field at George Mason University for the last time this season against the New Jersey Pride (4-6). The Bayhawks would end up falling to the Pride in their final home game in front of an outstanding home crowd of 4,786 fans. Andrew “Buggs” Combs scored eight goals and added one assist for nine points to lead the Bayhawks, while Matt Ward added three goals and one assist. Stephen Peyser netted four goals and added one assist in the Pride victory, earning him the MLL Bud Light Player of the Game.|
New Jersey opened up the scoring but Washington answered right back with a goal from Andrew “Buggs” Combs off of a feed by Jarett Park. After another score by the Pride, Combs and Park connected again to tie the game at 2-2. The Pride tallied another goal before Kyle Dixon put in a goal to tie the score again. Matt Ward connected on a feed from Kyle Dixon before New Jersey went on a 3 goal run to end the first quarter with the Pride up 6-4. Jamison Mullen opened up the scoring in the second quarter off of an assist from Conor Gill. Buggs Combs put in his third goal of the day to tie the game at six. The Pride scored two goals before Buggs Combs put in his fourth goal of the day to put the Bayhawks within one. The Bayhawks and Pride each tallied three more scores before Ne Jersey went on a scoring rampage to end the half, with the score New Jersey 15, Washington 10.
Buggs Combs opened the third quarter with his fifth goal of the day before the Pride went on a six goal run. The Bayhawks answered back scoring five unanswered goals to end the period. The Pride scored a pair of goals to open the fourth quarter before the Bayhawks answered back with a goal from Matt Ward and a two point goal from Kyle Dixon. New Jersey scored again before Jarett Park put one in the back of the net for the Bayhawks to end the game with the Bayhawks losing 25-20.
The Bayhawks had a great turn out for their final home game of the season at George Mason Stadium and would like to give thanks to all their fans and sponsors for their support in attendance. The Washington Bayhawks will finish their season on the road, facing New Jersey (3-6) on Thursday July 31st and ending their season on Saturday, August 9th, at Long Island (5-4).
