Philadelphia Barrage vs. Long Island Lizards

The Game Story:
The Philadelphia Barrage defeated the Long Island Lizards, 16-14, in front
of 2,538 fans at Villanova Stadium on Thursday evening. With the win, the
Barrage keep the MLL playoff race wide open with only two weeks remaining.
The Lizards trailed 8-6 at halftime, however, the Barrage scored the first
five points of the second half, taking command of the game and crusing to
victory. Former Lizards goaltender Brian Dougherty recorded 25 saves in
the win.

Down by six goals, the Lizards mounted a late comeback, as defensemen John
Gagliardi scored a two-point goal to cut the score to 16-12. Chris Massey
and Tim Goettelmann each scored as well, and the Lizards were within two
points.

Jack deVilliers won the ensuing faceoff with 13 seconds remaining, setting
up a Stephen Berger two-point shot attempt to tie the game. However, Brian
Dougherty came up with the save, and the Lizards were unable to get
another shot with only three seconds remaining.

Long Island was led on offense by Blake Miller (2 goals, 1 assist) and
Chris Massey (2 goals, 1 assist). A.J. Haugen, Jay Jalbert and Stephen
Berger each recorded two goals for the Lizards. Greg Cattrano made 13
saves in the loss.

The Lizards (4-6) have gone 1-3 thusfar on their five-game road trip. Long
Island will finish the season with a home-and-home series against the
American Division Champion Boston Cannons (7-2). The Lizards are in
jeopardy of missing the playoffs for the second straight season if they do
not win one of their remaining two regular season games.
