New Jersey Pride vs. Long Island Lizards

The Game Story:
Montclair, NJ -- The Long Island Lizards outscored the New Jersey Pride
13-6 in the second half, as they defeated their rivals, 19-14, in front of
2,615 fans at Sprague Field on the Campus of Montclair State University on
Saturday evening. Greg Cattrano was named Bud Light MVP, as he made
dazzling save after save, finishing the evening with a season-high 23
saves.

Long Island struggled in the first half, as the last-place Pride built an
8-6 halftime lead. New Jersey dominated time of possession and the Lizards
won just 2 of 16 faceoffs in the half. However, Long Island came out of
the locker room with a spark in the second half, scoring the first three
goals of the half to take a 9-8 lead that they would never relinquish.

Five players scored hat-tricks for Long Island, including season-high
performances for Ryan Moran and A.J. Haugen. Chris Massey, Matt Panetta
and Blake Miller also recorded three goals apiece for Long Island. Tim
Goettelmann (2 goals, 2 assists) and Jay Jalbert (1 goal, 2 assists)
rounded out the scoring.

Rob Parengkuan was excellent in the faceoff circle, taking the majority of
the draws in the second half as the Lizards won 10 of 21.

The Lizards (4-4) are back at .500 with the victory, and currently trail
the Boston Cannons (6-2) by two games in the race for the American
Division Championship. Long Island will meet the Rochester Rattlers at
Bishop Kearney Field next Saturday, as their five-game road trip
continues. The Lizards return home on August 12th, when they host the
Boston Cannons at Mitchel Athletic Complex.
