Denver Outlaws vs. Chicago Machine

The Game Story:
DENVER, Colo. After winning four of their first five games, the Denver Outlaws found themselves in a battle against the Chicago Machine at INVESCO Field at Mile High on Saturday night. However, a strong fourth quarter effort lifted the Outlaws to a league-best fifth win as Denver earned a 15-13 victory over the Machine.

Jeff Sonke earned Bud Light MVP honors after scoring the game-winning goal, a two-point shot with 13 seconds remaining off a feed from Ryan Powell.

The teams exchanged goals four times in the first quarter before Powell gave Denver a 5-3 lead with an unassisted goal with 39 seconds remaining.

The second quarter was similar to the first period with the teams trading goals three more times before Jake Deane and Kevin Leveille scored back-to-back goals to give Chicago a 9-8 lead at the intermission.

Denver and Chicago traded goals three more times in the third quarter, including a two-point goal from Brian Langtry, to even the score at 12-12 heading into the fourth quarter.

Less than two minutes into the fourth quarter, Paul Stansik scored off a Mike Leveille feed to give Chicago a 13-12 lead. However, Sonke tied the game just two minutes later before setting up the game-winning heroics in the final seconds.

Langtry led the Outlaws with two goals, including a two-pointer, and added two assists while Powell tallied two goals with an assist. Goalkeeper Jesse Schwartzman made 18 saves for the Outlaws, who outshot Chicago by a 58-46 margin.

Kevin Leveille led the Machine with three goals and an assist while Eric Pittard scored twice with two assists.
