| The Game Story: | The Air Force lacrosse team lost its Great Western Lacrosse League opener, falling to Notre Dame 9-3. The
Falcons fall to 2-5 overall, while the Fighting Irish improve to 3-5.
"We played very good defense," head coach Fred Acee said. "Our goalie (William Arnold) played a great
game. When you hold a strong team like Notre Dame to nine goals, you need to give yourself an opportunity
to win, but our offense came up short."
In freezing temperatures, the Falcons kept the game close but couldn't score. Chris Richez scored the only
goal of the first quarter. He added two more goals in the second quarter to help Notre Dame to a 4-0 lead.
With 26 seconds remaining in the half, Matthew Dudderar scored on an extra man opportunity to put the
Falcons on the board.
Notre Dame padded its lead with two third quarter goals. Kevin Hill scored the first goal of the fourth
quarter and Dudderar added his second goal of the game, but three additional goals by the Fighting Irish put
the game out of reach.
The Falcons will be back in action on Sunday, April 7, when they host Fairfield in a conference match up.
Game time is set for noon. |
