The Game Story:
Providence, RI - Third-ranked Georgetown held off a furious fourth quarter rally by Brown to earn a 12-11 men's lacrosse win over the Bears. Brown senior Jon Thompson (Freeport, ME) single-handedly kept the Bears within striking distance of the Hoyas with a career high 7 goals.

Following an evenly played first quarter, Brown grabbed a two-goal lead, 5-3, early in the second quarter on goals by sophomore Chazz Woodson (St. George, VA) and Thompson.

The Hoyas scored the last three goals of the second quarter to grab a 6-5 lead at the half on goals by senior Jordan Vettoretti, senior Mike Hammer and junior Walid Hajj. Georgetown continued its 6-0 scoring run by netting the first three goals of the third quarter on goals by senior Phil Vincenti, Hajj, and Vettoretti to take a 9-5 lead at the 5:16 mark of the third quarter.

After Thompson scored for the Bears, senior Trevor Walker tucked the ball in the Brown net just before the horn sounded to end the third quarter, giving the Hoyas a 10-6 lead after three quarters.

Junior Rich Tuohey (Annapolis, MD) got Brown back in the game with two goals early in the fourth quarter to cut Georgetown's lead to 10-8. Hammer scored his third goal of the game to put Georgetown back up by three goals, 11-8. Freshman Kyle Wailes (Toronto, Ont.) scored an extra man goal on as assist by sophomore Kirk Teatom (Massapequa, NY) and Thompson netted his six goal of the game to bring the Bears to within one goal of the Hoyas, 11-10, with 3:36 left to play.

Georgetown sophomore goalie Rich D'Andrea came up with the big play of the game with 3:10 remaining when he stopped a 2 on 0 Brown break by diving across the goal and making a save with his stick to stop Brown's Woodson. Neal Goldman scored an insurance goal for the Hoyas with 1:53 remaining to give Georgetown a 12-10 advantage.

The Bears came back once again with Thompson scoring his seventh goal of the game with 56 seconds left in regulation, to bring the Bears to within one goal, 12-11.

Both Brown goalie Mike Levin and the Hoyas' D'Ambrea will brilliant all day. Levin stopped 14 shots for the Bears, while D'Ambrea registered 9 saves for the Hoyas.

Brown will be back in action on Wednesday evening when they face Harvard in an Ivy League battle in Cambridge, Mass.
