The Game Story:
Providence, RI - Sophomore Alex Buckley (Ridgewood, NJ) scored four goals and senior Chazz Woodson (Virginia Beach, VA) added three goals to lead 16th-ranked Brown to a 14-7 men's lacrosse victory over Quinnipiac at the Erickson Athletic Complex.

Brown (2-0) never trailed in the game, taking the lead for good, 2-1, on a Buckley goal with 8:58 left in the first quarter. Buckley's goal sparked a 5-0 Brown first quarter spurt that lifted the Bears to a 6-1 lead. Following a Quinnipiac goal by Dave Loftus just 31 seconds into the second quarter, Brown answered with three more first half goals - one by Woodson and one each by sophomore David Madeira (Norwich, VT) and senior Britton Derkac (Virginia Beach, VA)- to grab a 6-2 lead at the half.

Brown goalie Nick Gentilesco (Setauket, NY) made five first half saves and was given the rest of the afternoon off. Sophomore Chandler Clarke (Lloyd Harbor, NY) entered the game and immediately electrified the crowd with an end-to-end run, weaving through the Quinnipiac defense to score his first collegiate goal 1:25 into the third quarter. Clarke went on to make seven saves, while allowing five goals. Freshman Mark Wenzel (Garden City, NY) wrapped-up the last 1:44 of the game, making two saves.

Derkac and Madeira finished the game with two goals each for the Bears, while senior Chris Mucciolo (Manhasset, NY) and sophomore Will Davis (Falls Church, VA) scored one goal each. Junior Kyle Wailes (Toronto, Ont.) led the Bears with four assists. Senior Kirk Teatom (Massapequa, NY) helped control the game for Brown by capturing 15 of 20 face-offs and winning eight groundballs.

Brown will play on the road next week, traveling to Amherst, MA to face the UMass Minutemen on Saturday, March 19. Game time is 3:00 p.m. at Garbor Field.
