Ontario) and junior Leif Blomquist (Long Beach, NY) combined for five
goals and three assists as the 14th-ranked Rutgers men's lacrosse team
(1-0) outlasted 20th-ranked Dartmouth, 13-9, in the season-opener for

Powless, Rutgers' leading scorer last season with 32 goals and four
assists, paced a well-balanced offense that saw eight different players
score goals. The senior attacker, a preseason All-America selection,
netted three goals, while Blomquist added two goals and a team-high three
assists.
Sophomore goalie Greg Havalchak (Corning, NY) had a career-high 22 saves
for the Scarlet Knights. In his first collegiate game, freshman Chris
Doctor (Skaneateles, NY) had two goals and an assist. RU also received
goals from senior Tim White (Rockville Center, NY), junior Jamie Lovejoy
(Holbrook, NY), sophomore John Flanagan (Smithtown, NY), sophomore Brett

With the game tied at 5-5 at halftime, Rutgers erupted for seven
unanswered goals in the third period to take a 12-5 lead into the fourth
quarter. The run came against Dartmouth goalie Andrew Goldstein, a
preseason All-America selection.
Today's victory marks the second straight year Rutgers has won its season

Scarlet Knights to a 7-0 start.
