The Game Story:
NEWARK, DE -- Towson University senior Hunter Lochte scored a career-high six goals and dished out an assist and the Tigers broke a tie with four straight goals in a span of two minutes and 20 seconds in the third quarter to post a 14-10 Colonial Athletic Association men^Òs lacrosse victory over host University of Delaware Saturday night at Rullo Stadium.

Delaware, which led 6-5 at halftime and still owned a share of the lead with 3:12 left in the third quarter, lost its second straight game and fell to 0-1 in CAA play. No. 17 ranked Towson snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 2-3, 2-0 CAA in downing the Blue Hens for the third straight time.

Junior Ryan Metzbower (St. Mary^Òs/Severna Park, MD) scored a season-high three goals to lead the Blue Hens while Matt Alrich (Calvert Hall/Timonium, MD), Brad Downer (Annapolis/Annapolis, MD), and Kurt Nordhoff (Mt. Hebron/Ellicott City, MD) each scored twice. Alrich and Downer also dished out assists for the Hens.

Lochte, who tied a Rullo Stadium record with his six goals, scored twice in the first quarter and tallied a goal with just 4:46 left in the first half to cut the Delaware lead to 6-5. Lochte helped start the pivotal 4-0 run in the third quarter as he fed Brad Monaco on a goal with 3:12 left to put the Tigers up for good at 9-8. Monaco assisted on two other goals in the run.

Ryan Obloj added two goals and three assists for the game and Kenny Lynch dished out two assists for Towson, which outshot Delaware 53-38 and held a commanding 19-9 advantage on faceoffs. Goalkeeper Reed Sothoron posted 14 saves.

Delaware scored the final two goals of the opening quarter as Xander Ritz fed Nordhoff and Alrich for scores in the final 2:30 to give UD a 4-3 lead. Delaware built the lead to 6-3 with 7:46 left in the first half when Andrew Benazzi and Downer each scored for the Hens. Towson^Òs Obloj scored and then fed Lochte for a score in the final 6:25 to cut the UD lead to 6-5 at intermission.

Towson opened the second half with three straight goals to take an 8-6 lead, but Metzbower and Alrich answered for Delaware as the Hens tied the game at 8-8 with 5:27 remaining. Towson then started its key run just over two minutes later to put the game away. Metzbower scored his second goal with 9:32 left to cut the lead to 13-9, but the Hens would never get closer.
