The Game Story:
Philadelphia, Pa. - Delaware rallied from a four-goal deficit to defeat Drexel, 7-6, on Senior Day at Vidas Field this afternoon. With the victory, the Blue Hens (9-4, 4-1) clinched a share of first place in the Colonial Athletic Association. Delaware's Andy Hipple put the Hens ahead for good with 16 seconds remaining in the third period and added what proved to be the game winner with just over five minutes to play in the game. The Dragons (8-5, 1-4) trimmed the deficit to one with 2:54 left on a Chris O'Connor goal, but Delaware controlled possession in the final minute and ran out the clock.

The Dragons scored the first four goals of the game and held the Blue Hens scoreless for the first 25 minutes of the contest. Drexel seniors Jason Forrester and Pat Simpson combined on the first goal, with Simpson finding the net for his fourth goal of the year. Greg Dougherty followed on an unassisted goal as Drexel led 2-0 after a period. Seniors Sean Moloney and Devin Regan each scored to give the Dragons a four-goal lead, but Delaware answered with four goals in the final five minutes of the half. Dan Deckelbaum started the rally with a goal at 4:58. Just over a minute later, Vincent Giordano scored the first of his two goals at 3:52 and after the face-off, Dan Powers scored to cut the Drexel lead to 4-3. Marty Kupprion completed the comeback with a goal from Joe Trentzsch at the 59 second mark as the teams went to the half tied at 4-4.

The second half was played in a steady, heavy rain. With 4:44 to play in the third, Yoni Cohen put the Dragons ahead 5-4, but Giordano answered just four minutes later to tie it. Hipple then scored the next two goals for the Blue Hens.

Drexel concludes its season on Saturday with a road game at Yale next Saturday.
