The Game Story:
Hofstra held off a late Drexel run to defeat the Dragons, 8-7, at Vidas Field on Saturday. Drexel scored three times in the final six minutes and had a shot to tie the game in the final seconds, but Sean Moloney's contested shot from in close went wide with three seconds remaining. The win improved the Pride's record to 4-6 on the year and 2-1 in the CAA. Drexel fell to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Chris Unterstein scored four goals in the contest, including what turned out to be the game-winner with 8:21 to play in the game. Unterstein scored on a feed from Athan Ianucci to put the Pride up 8-5. Drexel would score the next three goals. The spurt started when Mike Filippone scored with 5:45 to play. Senior Joe Fiore made it a two-goal game with 2:25 left, and after Filippone won the face-off, the Dragons cut it to 8-7 when freshman Jonathan DeCanio converted a feed from Matt Musci with 1:01 to play. Filippone again won the face-off, but the Dragons rally came up a goal short.

Fiore started the scoring early in the first quarter for Drexel, but Hofstra scored the next four goals, including two by Unterstein, and held a 4-2 lead at the half. Drexel was able to manage just three shots in the second quarter after outshooting Hofstra, 8-7, in the first period.

Hofstra tallied the first two goals of the second half to take a 6-2 lead. Ryan Lucas and Unterstein each found the back of the net before Moloney cut the Pride lead to three with 2:29 to play in the third quarter. Rob Bonaguro's goal in the final minute increased Hofstra's lead to four at 7-3.

Ryan Harney made seven saves in a losing effort for the Dragons. Matthew Southard picked up the win after making eight saves in the cage for the Pride.
