The Game Story:
DURHAM, N.C. -- Junior midfielder Kyle Harrison scored two goals and the Johns Hopkins defense shut out Duke in the second and fourth quarters as the second-ranked Blue Jays downed the 13th-ranked Blue Devils, 6-5, in men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon in Durham, N.C.

The Blue Jays improve to 7-1 on the year while Duke falls to 4-5.

The Duke loss spoiled a 20-save effort by goalie Aaron Fenton, who held the Blue Jays to a season-low six goals. The Blue Devils had possession as time ran down in the final period, but Matt Zash's potential game-tying goal, which beat Johns Hopkins goalie Scott Smith, was waved off at the horn.

The Blue Devils jumped on top 2-0 in the opening five minutes of the game with a pair of unassisted goals by Bret Thompson and Lee Skandalaris. The Blue Jays would then go on a 5-0 run, holding Duke scoreless for 37:06. At the 1:27 mark of the first quarter, Jake Byrne got the Blue Jays on the board with a goal from Kyle Barrie. In the second period, Barrie, Peter LeSueur and Harrison found the back of the net for a 4-2 Hopkins advantage at intermission.

After Conor Ford scored less than four minutes into the third quarter for a 5-2 Blue Jay lead, Duke got an extra man goal from K.J. Sauer to pull within 5-3. Facing an unreleasable penalty, Johns Hopkins won the ensuing face-off and Harrison scored a man-down goal to push the lead back to three goals.

At the 1:45 mark of the third period, Peter Lamade scored for Duke and then, with just 17 seconds remaining in the quarter, Zash tallied to make it a 6-5 game. Each goalie logged four saves in the final quarter as neither team scored.

Duke takes to the road next Saturday for a 1 p.m. game with Virginia, while Johns Hopkins, expected to take over the top spot in the
