The Game Story:
Washington, D.C. - Georgetown's eighth ranked men's lacrosse program (4-1, 2-0 ECAC) battled a tough 17th ranked Hobart team (3-2, 0-1 ECAC) to an 11-9 victory Saturday afternoon in front of 1,513 fans at GU's Multi-Sport Field. Sean Denihan (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) netted five goals and recorded one assist in the Hoya victory. It was the 11th straight win for Georgetown over the Statesmen and the third straight two-goal victory.

Midfielder Dave Paolisso (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial), the reigning ECAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, continued his goal-scoring streak with the first goal of the game, off an assist from midfielder Pete Cannon (Haverford, Pa./The Haverford School) at the 13:47 mark of the first quarter. Hobart's Christopher David tied the score at one with an unassisted goal two minutes later. Brendan Cannon (Haverford, Pa./The Haverford School) gave the lead back to the Hoyas with an unassisted goal at 6:13, followed by Paolisso who netted his second of the day off a feed from Brendan Cannon. Hobart stayed close, netting the next two goals one to end the first quarter and one to start the second quarter.

Over the next 18 minutes of play both sides exchanged goals to extended the score to six apiece. Denihan, Matt McBride (Ridgewood, N.J./Delbarton) and Pete Cannon were the Hoya goal scorers during the span. Denihan then netted the next two goals, for his second and third of the game, to extend the Hoyas' lead to 8-6. However, Hobart scored three consecutive goals, two of which came on man-up opportunities, to take a 9-8 lead with 14:42 to play. Christopher David notched his fourth goal of the game to help Hobart take the lead. Denihan then picked up his fourth goal of the game on a Hoya man-up advantage to tie the game at 9-9 with 7:28 left. He continued to be a major presence on the field for the Hoyas, as he assisted on a Trevor Casey (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) man-up goal and also sealed the victory with his fifth goal, off a feed from Garrett Wilson (Ardmore, Pa./Episcopal Academy) with 1:51 left in the game.

Georgetown sophomore goalie Miles Kass (Rye, N.Y./Hotchkiss) made eleven saves on the day, while allowing nine goals and Hobart's Mike DeSantis stopped 13 shots and allowed all 11 of GU's goals. The Hoyas outshot Hobart 46 to 34 and had 43 ground balls compared to 41 for Hobart. Georgetown was 13-of-23 on face-offs against Hobart's 10-of-23, with Christiaan Trunz (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) securing 13-of-22 attempts.

Georgetown goes on a three game stretch away from home, starting off with a powerhouse showdown against the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, March 25. Face-off is slated for 1 p.m.
